The UMass Physics Department offers unlimited hard-wired
network services. Access to services
require registration to be able to connect.
Do not attempt to plug into the Physics network with out
registering first, you will not get service anyway, plus your attempt to
connect will be noticed and logged..
All Windows computers MUST have a valid and up-to-date virus
scanner and all computers, plus Windows or Linux, MUST have all operating system updates applied upon
connecting.
General usage:
To connect your computer, the MAC address must be added to the UMass Physics network database. To get registered and be added to the database please send the following six pieces of information listed below to babcock@physics.umass.edu

ethernet: (ethernet card hardware address) <--see "How to find your computer's MAC or Hardware Address"

contact: (person to contact)
Email will be sent back to confirm registration.
Visitor information:
If a visitor needs temporary wireless or
hardwire access to the UMass Physics network, this person can access the
network via one of two ways.
1: For longer visits, more than an hour or two, get the hardware address of the visitors
wireless card, send to babcock@physics.umass.edu for addition. It is best if this can be
done before the person arrives.
2: For a quick connection, of an hour or so by a visitor, there are two IP addresses that can be
used....
128.119.50.14 for LGRT
128.119.56.14 for Hasbrouck.
