Emergent gauge symmetry

John Donogue, UMass, Physics

Lately I have been interested in the idea of emergent gauge symmetry, and you have heard some aspects of this in other talks by the folks working with me on this topic. I’d like to take this opportunity to give an overview of the idea, and a discussion of some of the problems and research projects related to the subject.
